#3243: Foundation's Hyland and NCUMA's Budd Talk Maui Fire Relief Efforts...

NCUMA’s President/CEO Kathy Budd and The Foundation’s Executive Director Gigi Hyland joined us on the show to share how credit unions can contribute to provide relief and support to the residents and local businesses impacted by the recent, devastating fires in Lahaina, Maui.  

Specifically, Gigi discussed what is The Foundation doing with its CUAid program, as well as working with the Hawaii Credit Union League and Maui credit unions.

Kathy talked about NCUMA’s "Bring a Gift Card!” program, a charity initiative she just launched for the island of Maui in conjunction with NCUMA’s November Hawaii conference this fall in Wailea, Maui.

At their conference this fall, NCUMA will be collecting gift cards to support the needs of those that have lost so much in the devastating fires in Lahaina.  Kathy and her team invite attendees to give back to the community that has brought joy to so many over the years by simply packing an extra gift card in their suitcase.  

Kathy also mentioned that she has reached out to various organizations to offer additional services regarding any other volunteer opportunities available to attendees this coming November. As things evolve on Maui, she will notify attendees of anything area leaders believe would be most helpful to them. 

One of the three areas of work of the Foundation is CUAid - a disaster relief portal to help credit unions, their employees and volunteers back on their feet so they can serve members equally impacted by the disaster.

As stated by Gigi above, they working closely with Maui credit unions and the Hawaii Credit Union League to distribute relief grants. If attendees or anybody else are interested in supporting this effort, click here to donate.
