Most of us know that managing your money can be an emotional roller coaster. Paycheck comes in; we're happy as a lab with a fresh bowl of kibble. Gotta pay bills; we're grumpy as a cat woken from an afternoon nap. And when it comes to investing, we might as well call the local psychiatrist to help us with our perpetual highs and lows based on the market's latest mood.

That said, we invited financial author Chris White on the program to discuss this very topic in his latest book: Working with the Emotional Investor: Financial Psychology for Wealth Managers. Chris, who is a CFA, is also an experienced wealth management advisor and strategist who has invested on behalf of hundreds of individuals, families, couples, and institutions for over 25 years.

As the legalization of marijuana slowly creeps across our country, more and more businesses will be dealing with the cannabis industry in one form or another. One of those businesses could be your credit union in the coming years.

It's a controversial topic, no doubt. That's why the folks at LT Public Relations addressed this issue head on in a new study (with DHM Research): "Banking on Marijuana" -- which looks at the public perception of providing financial services to the cannabis industry.

We invited LTPR President Casey Boggs to provide us with the study's key findings, who they talked to, why they conducted this researched, and a couple of surprises for you.

For those folks who just received a few feet of snow and a few more inches of freezing rain from Mother Nature this past week, fear not because the annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk is only a couple months away: April 2, 2017, Washington, D.C., 7:30 a.m. (EST). This "runner's rite of spring"® not only helps us escape winter's cold grasp, it also positions credit unions in an incredibly bright light as a group that generously gives back -- in this case, giving back to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide.

One of the credit union organizations that has supported this popular event over the years is PSCU -- and we invited the CUSO's President/CEO Chuck Fagan on the program to give us the inside scoop on what participants can expect for the 2017 run. Chuck also addresses what this event means for credit unions -- as well as Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. He also talked about PSCU's involvement in the race and some strategy for this year's runners/walkers -- which doesn't involve "Ubering" to the finish line.

It has to be acknowledged that credit union marketing has made great strides in the last decade or so. It's so cool to see the sophistication, the humor, and the unique messaging excelling in today's marketplace. But it's certainly not time to rest on our laurels in the marketing department; keep on the gas producing great content that attracts, retains, and converts.
