As part of our CUNA GAC coverage, thanks to the fine folks at CO-OP Financial Services, we were joined by CUNA’s Senior Director of Advocacy & Senior Counsel for Payments & Cybersecurity Lance Noggle to discuss a couple of newsworthy breakout sessions he will be a part of during the conference.

The GAC sessions we discussed included:
  • “The Road to Real-Time Payments: How Fast is Fast Enough” (March 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m. EST)
  • “Regulating Fintechs in Today’s Banking Marketplace” (March 3, 1:00-2:00 p.m. EST)

Both sessions will be very popular because of the subject matters' timeliness and Lance provides an in-depth preview of both -- complete with summaries, takeaways, and much more.

Check it out and let us know your thoughts. And watch the entire episode below with Lance for all the details.

#2444: How Biden Administration Will Tackle Digital ID and Consumer Data Privacy Laws...

2/23/2021

With a new administration, naturally comes change. With the Biden Administration settling into D.C. and quickly implementing its policies, there will be plenty of change -- even for credit unions.

One particular area that will have a great effect on credit unions will be digital services -- in particular digital ID, which is starting to boom thanks to last year's pandemic. So how will the Biden Administration tackle digital ID, as well as consumer data privacy laws?

To get the answer and more, we invited OneSpan Director of Global Regulations and Standards Michael Magrath on the show to share his expertise in this area. Michael talked about the administration implementing an all-encompassing law because 50 different laws from 50 different states is a recipe for chaos. So some sort of standard must be set.

He also discussed what this means for financial institutions moving forward in our digital age.

An incredibly interesting talk with Michael on a very timely topic. Check it out and let us know your thoughts.

CUNA 2021 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), like nearly every conference in the last 12 months is going virtual. That's big news for the industry's biggest gathering because it was about this time last year when GAC -- which many of us attended, seeing each other in person for the last time.

Much of the industry has been anticipating how CUNA will conduct its premiere conference in a virtual environment and we'll get to do so next week.

To give us a sneak preview, we invited CUNA Chief Products and Services Officer Todd Spiczenski on the show. Todd pretty much coordinates and plans the event with an incredible team that goes to great lengths to produce a successful, major event. This year, obviously, is a bit different with its virtual environment -- of which Todd goes into great detail how it will all work, as well as what's in store for attendees, vendors, speakers, and more.

Enjoy our conversation with Todd and let us know your thoughts. And don't forget to register for GAC.

  • and much more

For a deeper dive on these items, we invited TransUnion Vice President of Research and Consulting Matt Komos on the show. In a very spirited talk, Matt explained what's going on in each of these trends and how they will affect credit unions moving forward.

Many takeaways in this talk with Matt, so check it out and let us know your thoughts. And watch the entire interview with Matt below for all the details. TransUnion will also host a webinar on Wednesday, February 24, discussing many of these insights for attendees.
