For more than a decade now, we've been hearing about biometrics and how it's going to change the face of the financial services industry -- and just about every other industry, as well. But for years, it seems many solutions have started, sputtered, and stalled like an '85 Yugo gasping for another quart of ethanol.

Today, however, times have changed and biometrics -- whether it's your eyes, fingerprint, face, voice, etc. -- has a growing arsenal of success stories. For instance, we recently interviewed the folks at Mountain America Credit Union and their successful use of eye and fingerprint scans (episode #538) and in this episode we are looking at how Arizona Federal Credit Union has successfully launched Digital Insight's Android fingerprint scan. And I'm sure there are many more. Finally, tomorrow is here.

So we invited Arizona FCU Sr. Director of Digital Banking Eric Givens and Digital Insight Senior Product Manager Dan Weis to provide us with the details on why their solution has succeeded, how it works, feedback from members, what's next in biometrics, and advice for other CUs looking to implement these cool pieces of technology that will eventually allow us to dropkick usernames and passwords into the last century.

Credit unions rank third on the list in terms of giving to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals -- right behind retail behemoths Walmart and Costco. Not bad company. In fact, the news just came out that for the second year in a row more than $1 million was raised for the 11 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in California and Nevada. Pretty cool.

So we invited CMN Hospital's President and CEO John Lauck on the program to provide us with the latest donation stats from credit unions, along with milestones, how the funds are used, challenges children's hospitals are facing today, immediate goals, and how credit unions can continue stepping up and helping in a big way.
