Digital marketing is such an obtuse term. There are so many variables to it that it can send your mind spinning. To bring this topic to its deserved acuteness, we invited CU Consulting Group's Ryan Rudd -- who brings his outside-the-industry perspective to credit unions looking for a clear path in this virtual realm.

Ryan provides plenty of practical advice for credit unions, along with the tools that can help the process, as well. In addition, he explains what credit unions of different sizes and resources can do to mitigate any challenges with the sometimes novel world of digital marketing. Again, a highly informative interview for credit unions looking for a leg up to reach that ever-savvy online audience. Enjoy!

Last time we spoke with Phroogal's Jason Vitug (episode #391) it was prior to his 30-day, nationwide "Road to Financial Wellness" adventure -- all in the name of enhancing the credit union name and, more importantly, spread a financial wellness message across the country. If you were able to track the trip on social media and the website, you would've seen what a smashing success this venture was.

So, naturally, we invited Jason back on the show to give us a post road trip report on what lessons he learned, how the trip's experiences shaped his team, and some of the surprises he encountered. What he took away from this trip will benefit all credit unions in their effort to stand out and clearly be noticed in the financial services world. It's a message we all need to hear and apply today. Enjoy -- and watch for Jason coming to a conference near you to speak about his eye-opening experiences.

In the finicky world of social media, selling is a big "no-no." If you try to sell anything on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the like, your followers will leave you faster than moviegoers emptying the seats after the first five minutes of Meatballs 2. That was a bad movie.

But the folks at Navy Federal Credit Union have become immune to this social selling repugnancy. In fact, they've become pretty darn good at generating revenue in the social media realm. If you recall, we had Navy Fed's Jennifer Sadler on the show (episode #233) last year sharing how the credit union generated over $200 million in loans from its Facebook page.

So we invited Navy Fed's Social Media Manager Michael Toner on the show to provide us with their secrets to social business success. A fascinating interview on a new way to hawk your wares. CU marketers: get out your notepads, as Michael gives us plenty of practical advice and examples. Enjoy!

In part two of our conversation with Momentum's Project Manager Mark Alguard, we discuss the ever-changing design world of the credit union branch -- especially in these controversial times of "branch consolidation." It seems to be evolving on a daily basis as technology, employees roles, and members' needs all change.

In this episode we talk about what credit unions are looking for in a branch today, how to help them mold innovative ideas that will resonate with their members, and how he sees the branch continuing to evolve. Or will they eventually die off making room for the Movens and Simples. Watch and find out.
