One of the more interesting trends that has occurred during the pandemic is people paying down their debt -- which is always a good thing. But what a time to do it -- a pleasant surprise, indeed.

One company that's all about helping people pay down their debt through financial institutions is Happy Money. They thrive on consumers unloading their "sad money" (a.k.a. debt) and having credit unions and other financial institutions help them get there.

Happy Money recently partnered up with GreenState Credit Union to help their members do just that through the company's Payoff Loan product. Happy Money's Head of Partnerships Joe Heck and GreenState Credit Union's Chief Marketing Officer Jim Kelly joined us on the show to share this success story.

When COVID-19 crashed our shores nearly six months ago -- and since then, many of us have experienced financial anxiety as jobs and businesses were literally turned upside down. The uncertainty was stressful and still is for a lot of us.

During CUNA Mutual Group's Discovery 2020, CUNA Mutual Group Vice President of Sales Becki Hagerman provided a very thorough presentation on "Emotional Engagement: Differentiate Your Members' Experience." For a significant part of her presentation, Becki dealt with how credit unions can handle financial anxiety with their members -- which she talks about in this clip in great detail.

Thanks to Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union students can not only get a degree from the prestigious learning institution, they can also hit the ground running with a solid credit score, too.

The student-run credit union's CEO Sam Lazarus, who is also a senior at Georgetown University, came on the show to share how its newly launched Georgetown University Credit Builder Program works, helping students establish a robust credit history so they can get a head start on their financial lives after graduation.

Sam says that most students don't have a credit score when they graduate, which can hold them back if they want to get a loan for a new car or anything of that nature. This credit builder program, which he hopes could be implemented at other student-run credit unions, gets rid of that hurdle and allows Georgetown graduates to start their professional lives on solid financial footing.
