Ok, most, if not all of us, are mired deep into the holiday shopping season, scrambling to purchase gifts for loved ones, friends, peers, and pets. It's a fun time of the year -- a bit stressful but still fun to give. And today, most of us are using our credit cards shopping at the mall or online. It's so convenient, quick, and trackable -- all upsides for the consumer.

The downside for the consumer, however, is that it's also prime shopping season for fraudsters. With past years' breeches and the growing CNP threat, it can be scary. But there are a few fraud-fighting tips out there that folks can incorporate in their holiday shopping ventures. That said, we invited CO-OP's Product Marketing Manager Amanda Atcheson on the show to provide us -- and credit unions -- with five fraud-fighting tips for protection. Everybody enjoys a good hero now and then. These selfless individuals give and give for a better tomorrow in all aspects of life. And the credit union industry is full of these folks who make a difference in people's lives everyday. Many times they are so humble, they don't want the accolades -- only the reward of seeing who they helped succeed.

Well, to help recognize some of these folks, Credit Union Magazine is once again holding its CU Heroes program, sponsored by CSCU. This annual program features individuals who exemplify the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and have gone the extra mile to make a difference in their communities. It is indeed mobile payments-palooza in the financial services industry and most of us are frothing to see what's around the corner. Luckily credit unions are nimble enough to turn on a dime when new technology is offered to consumers, making their lives even more efficient -- and even fun when it comes to this stuff.

Not wasting any time is Navy Federal Credit Union recently launching Samsung Pay for its global members just a year after it launched Apple Pay. To get the inside scoop on its latest mobile payments offering, we invited Navy Federal's Assistant Vice President of eChannels Tim Day. Tim tells us the differences between Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, the demand for both payment solutions, why they're offering yet another piece of mobile tech for its members, and any advice for other CUs looking to do the same.
