It's time of the year, again. Time to showcase what happens behind the not-so-perfect scenes at CUbroadcast when we (mostly me --99.9%) goof up on camera and, sadly, must remove that footage from the final product. But we archive those few goofy gems throughout the year only to have them resurface for our annual, end-of-the-year Blooper Reel for all to enjoy.

Over the years we've had some doozy hiccups and I must say everybody is so gracious in their responses to the "whoops, let's that over again" situation. A testament to the extreme coolness of the credit union industry, I must say. And it's always doubly fun when guests participate in the trip ups, as well. Love you guys!

That said, I hope you enjoy this year's Blooper Reel. We had a blast putting this one together for you to enjoy over the holidays, as we reminisce over 2024 and look forward to 2025. And, if history proves us right, there will plenty of bloopers in 2025, as well. So stay tuned this time next year!

Most of all, I want to thank you our audience, our guests, conference hosts, and our sponsors for supporting and participating in our interviews each year. Your valued input helps keep this industry moving forward and literally changing people's lives. I am blessed and honored beyond belief that I get to share your inspiring messages to such a humble and forward-thinking industry, helping spark new ideas that benefits us all -- credit unions, members, vendors, and more.

Thank you, thank you, again, for allowing me to share your insights, expertise, anecdotes, success stories, and so much more. We will see you 2025 either online or live at one of the many, many, many industry conferences on tap in the coming year. Enjoy your holidays with family and friends -- and some well-deserved time off!

LSCU’s President Samantha Beeler stopped by the show to share the backstory and benefits of Virginia Credit Union League joining League of Southeastern Credit Unions — which will be officially effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Samantha discussed what got the ball rolling with Virginia, as well as the “why” behind this move, providing greater value for members and the communities the league's credit unions serve with a more powerful and unified voice.

She also explained how this merge works, bringing in a new league staff, credit unions, etc.

Looking at the big picture, Samantha talked about how she sees this move affecting the industry -- especially as other leagues have consolidated recently: GoWest, California/Nevada/Utah, Cornerstone/Heartland.

Lastly, she shared immediate- and long-term goals/plans for LSCU -- with Virginia now in the mix.

CEO Bonnie Ortiz, CEO at O2 Consulting Group, and Stephanie Covington, CEO at Government Printing Office (GPO) Federal Credit Union, joined us on the show to share their insights and experiences when it comes to credit unions opting for do it yourself (DIY) or project management leadership when undertaking large credit union projects.

Bonnie and Stephanie discussed why a credit union would need an experienced project management professional when undertaking a key project, adding examples and experiences of past projects.

They also talked about determining factors in making a decision like this at a credit union today, doing a DIY as opposed to bringing in an experienced project management professional.

Lastly, Bonnie and Stephanie shared lessons learned to pass on to other credit unions in similar positions -- what worked and what didn't.

Check it out and let us know your thoughts. And be sure to watch the entire episode below for all the details.
