Tony Hernandez, President/CEO at Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), joined us in the Studio Lounge to wrap up our conference coverage, sharing his highlights, takeaways, and insights.

In particular, Tony discussed a few of the keynotes that set the tone of the conference with an unintended, yet serendipitous, "connection" theme that fostered itself throughout the 4-day event:

• DeDe Halfhill, Consultant and Colonel, USAF (Ret.), who talked about "Leaders Connect - A Real Conversation About Why We Struggle And What Gets In Our Way"
• Alex Pelbath, Managing Director at Victory Strategies, discussed "Thriving in Chaos." He was the Air Mission Commander during the chaotic evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan, three years ago (he was on the last flight out).
• Heather Penney, Senior Resident Fellow at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, presented "9/11 and Everyday Heroes." Heather flew two combat tours flying the F-16 and was part of the squadron searching for United flight #93 on the day of 9/11. If they had found the flight #93, which crashed in Pennsylvania, she and her fellow pilot in another F-16 would've had to ram the plane with their jets to bring it down.

He also recapped some of the show's breakout sessions covering AI's impending impact, NCUA reg outlook, affordable housing, top credit union trends, military households study, DCUC advocacy, and much more.

But the biggest aspect of this conference, Tony shared, is the continuing brothers/sisters in arms spirit that permeates the air. It's incredibly inspiring to see this group come together and break bread each year  -- and share their amazing efforts supporting the men and women in the United States armed forces and their families. It takes the credit union mantra of "people helping people" to an entirely different level.
