MDT, a CUSO that helps credit unions navigate complex financial technology ecosystems, today announced that it has supported Marion, Indiana-based Afena Federal Credit Union in the execution of several digital initiatives designed to help meet members where they are, offering convenience, security and financial empowerment. MDT has served as a partner in this journey, helping to integrate advanced functionalities and new features to enhance the member experience.

As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Afena Credit Union remains dedicated to ensuring financial access for all, helping bridge the gap between financial challenges and financial success – regardless of socio-economic background. With its field of membership expanding and member expectations evolving, the credit union has worked with MDT as a trusted partner since March 2008 to provide strategic guidance, enabling them to maximize resources while embracing innovation and growth.

As part of its dedication to exceptional member service, the credit union recently launched Jack Henry’s Banno to enhance its digital banking experience, offering improved security, seamless navigation and an intuitive interface. RDC functionality was also incorporated. With these enhancements, members can now manage their finances anytime, anywhere, with greater ease and efficiency, strengthening the overall experience as well as member retention. MDT remained a reliable partner throughout the process, collaborating with the credit union to ensure tasks were completed effectively and within desired timeframes.

“At Afena, we believe that the best partnerships are built on trust, collaboration and a shared vision for success – and that is exactly what we have found in MDT. Their flexibility, expertise and client-first approach have played an integral role in supporting our tech advancements, allowing us to enhance member experiences while staying true to our mission,” said Karen Madry, CEO and president of Afena Federal Credit Union. “MDT has been more than just a vendor – they have been a true partner in progress. Their dedication to client success, industry expertise and personalized support has made them a critical part of our journey, helping us bring modern, convenient and secure financial solutions to the communities we serve.”

Afena Credit Union has recently integrated several additional new tools and features, including online account opening and loan applications, an automated lending solution for its small-dollar loan program, credit score monitoring and a complete overhaul of its website. These initiatives not only provide more robust functionality for members, but important resources to help them improve their financial well-being.

"Afena Federal Credit Union, with its people-first approach to banking, is committed to meeting its members where they are – whether through cutting-edge digital banking solutions, accessible lending options or simply being a reliable partner in their financial journey,” said Dan Schneider, Chief Project Officer of MDT. "We are proud to be a strategic partner, helping the credit union navigate the current financial technology landscape in such a way that aligns with their unique goals, member needs and financial sustainability. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Afena, ensuring that their members have the support, resources and financial tools they need to thrive.”
