Firelands Federal Credit Union (‘Firelands’) has chosen Mahalo Banking as its new digital banking partner, enabling the credit union to provide a modernized, community-focused digital experience for its members. After a thorough evaluation of market options, Firelands selected Mahalo for its elevated functionality, flexible integrations, and shared dedication to empowering members with user-friendly, secure banking tools.

“We were committed to finding a digital banking partner that aligns with our vision of providing the best possible experience for our members,” said Dominic Despues, Senior Vice President of Member Experience at Firelands. “Mahalo impressed us from the start – not just with their robust features, but also because of how their team is always collaborative and responsive. They already feel like an extension of our own team, and we are excited to cultivate this partnership together.”

With Mahalo’s solution, Firelands members gain access to an enhanced suite of digital tools designed to make everyday banking easier and more intuitive, while still reflecting the credit union’s personalized touch. Members will be able to securely navigate their finances, transfer funds quickly between accounts, and take advantage of intuitive card controls to manage and protect their debit and credit cards all in one place.

Security also remains a top priority for Firelands, and Mahalo’s dedicated reputation as a security-focused provider brings an added layer of assurance. In addition to strong safeguard features, Firelands benefits from Mahalo’s ability to integrate seamlessly with key third-party solutions, such as Plaid and SavvyMoney, as well as new self-service options like automated Skip-a-Pay functionality. Together, these enhancements save members time and empower them to independently manage their finances, without losing the customized support they expect.

“Mahalo’s modern approach and flexible integrations position us to offer a digital experience that not only keeps pace with the industry, but also exceeds what many larger banks provide today,” Despues added.

“We take pride in being a provider that credit unions truly enjoy working with and trust as a reliable partner,” said Denny Howell, COO of Mahalo. “Our understanding of the ways credit unions must modernize to compete combined with our deep commitment to the credit union movement fosters strong, lasting relationships with our partners. It is this partnership alignment that helps us enable credit unions like Firelands to strengthen member connections and stay ahead in a fast-changing industry.”
