Sea West Coast Guard Federal Credit Union has selected Michael Kenny as its next President/CEO. The selection follows an extensive search facilitated by DDJ Myers, the well-known executive search and leadership development firm.

“On behalf of the Sea West members, the Board engaged DDJ Myers to conduct a thorough search for our next CEO. We are delighted to report that we found the best fit for the position in our own Michael Kenny,” says Jerry Doherty, Board Chair.

Kenny brings over 30 years of senior level executive management experience in finance to his new position, including nearly a dozen years spent as Vice President, Lending for Sea West Coast Guard FCU. Throughout his career, Kenny has also held various positions in investments and lending at Quest Securities and Bank of the West, along with several other institutions.

“I am excited to lead an organization that values dedicated service to others, specifically those who serve(d) in the United States Coast Guard, Armed Forces, and their families,” says Kenny.  “I am honored by the responsibilities conferred upon me by the Board of Directors to preserve and protect Sea West’s strong legacy, traditions, human capital, and financial resources, all for the financial benefit of every member.”

Kenny grew up on a ranch near San Luis Obispo, California and attended California Polytechnic State University where he studied Mechanized Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Financial Management. While at Cal Poly, he competed in both inter-collegiate and professional rodeo as a bull rider and saddle bronc rider. He also owned and operated a working farm in Idaho along the Canadian border, where he grew soft white wheat and alfalfa hay.  Kenny lives in Orinda, California and recently married his wife, Lisa, and gained a stepson, Liam. He’s also a proud father to his daughter, Caley, and grandfather to 2.5-year-old Audrey.
