Trellance, a leading technology partner providing innovative analytics, cloud and talent solutions to credit unions, has partnered with the Filene Institute to sponsor their latest Center of Excellence, the Credit Union of the Future.

The Credit Union of the Future seeks to understand what credit union members of the future expect from their financial institution and provide guidance to today’s credit unions so they can meet, and exceed, those expectations. The future is decidedly digital, but the Credit Union of The Future is researching what those digital channels include. Areas of focus include:

  • Identifying and maintaining credit union values
  • Using data to create actionable insights
  • Using innovation technology to disrupt the banking industry and create new opportunities

“The Credit Union of the Future was an obvious choice for us to choose as our next sponsorship,” said Trellance President and CEO, Tom Davis. “We just concluded our sponsorship of the data analytics Center of Excellence with Filene, which provided invaluable research to credit unions across the country about the value of data. Now, we want credit unions to understand the power of technology and help get those resources into their hands.”

Each Center of Excellence has a topic that they pursue for three to five years and 10 sponsors. The goal is to have the sponsors share in the research and function as a group of peers. Access to the research conducted in the Credit Union of the Future will allow Trellance to identify areas of credit union need and offer solutions based on their own observations.

“We’re excited to be pursuing this topic,” said Lamont Black, the Filene Fellow heading up the Credit Union of the Future. “We know the digital age is here and we want to help credit unions embrace the technology available to them and reap the benefits. Trellance is a great partner for this topic as a credit union technology provider.”

Lamont Black will guide the research of the Center. A self-described “Financial Futurist,” he hopes to help credit unions explore the resources of digital transformation, such as data, analytics, and blockchain and to consider and prepare for the possibility of a future that prioritizes digital currency.
