University Credit Union (UCU) has selected Jeremy Calva to serve as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He was placed by DDJ Myers, the well-known executive search and leadership development firm.

An executive with 25 years of expertise in financial services, Calva specializes in strategic planning, financial management, and risk mitigation. Most recently, he served as SVP/Chief Risk Officer for Rivermark Credit Union. Throughout his career he has held various senior leadership roles within the industry including chief financial officer, chief strategy officer and chief compliance and administrative officer.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join this team and leverage my background in finance, accounting, risk, and compliance to help serve members through financial stewardship at UCU. My focus on community impact aligns with the credit union’s deep sense of responsibility to its members and doing our part to lift up underserved communities,” says Calva.

Calva is a certified public accountant (CPA) and is certified in financial forensics (CFF). He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated with high honors from Western CUNA School of Management.

“The team at DDJ Myers provided me valuable insight on refining my delivery, focusing on my strengths, and being open about my style and preferences,” says Calva. “Candis, Leah, Caroline, Jacki, and Deedee were excellent to work with, keeping me informed and ensuring I had all the relevant information to put my best foot forward. I feel like the CFO position at UCU is the right fit for me, and I’m looking forward to being part of their success."

As part of his commitment to community giveback and volunteering, Calva established a personal grant writing goal in 2024. His efforts resulted in more than $3.3 million in awards focused on food and housing instability, youth programs and financial wellness education. In his free time, Calva enjoys coaching soccer and serving the community along with his team.
