Velera – formerly PSCU/Co-op Solutions, the nation’s premier payments credit union service organization (CUSO) and an integrated financial technology solutions provider – is pleased to announce its expanded partnership with HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union (HawaiiUSA) to provide debit card processing services, alongside continued credit card processing support.

HawaiiUSA is the state’s largest credit union, providing services to more than 132,000 members through 14 branch locations and holding over $2.2 billion in total assets. Headquartered in Honolulu, HawaiiUSA is a driving force in the community and a leader in promoting sustainable financial health for individuals and businesses that help the Hawaii economy thrive.

During its search for an ideal card processing partner, HawaiiUSA prioritized an organization with competencies in member experience; fraud, relationship and terminal management; portfolio optimization; staff experience and system integration. Following a formal research and vetting process, HawaiiUSA selected Velera.

“It is clear that Velera operates at the highest of standards and provides a variety of solutions that can benefit our members in this ever-changing financial landscape,” said HawaiiUSA’s Chief Growth Officer Katey Mobley. “Velera aligns perfectly with our mission of providing member-friendly solutions and will serve as an ideal partner in helping us protect member assets and provide financial wellness and safety for our beneficiaries.”

“Fraud management is one of our key priorities when it comes to member protection,” said HawaiiUSA’s Chief Operations Officer Kaleo Kuroda. “We are excited to have our debit cards incorporated into Velera’s fraud management solution and look forward to leveraging their expertise across the debit card landscape in helping us proactively mitigate fraud threats to our members.”

Velera will begin providing debit card processing support in August 2024.

“We have seen firsthand HawaiiUSA’s dedication to providing innovative solutions and empowering the financial well-being of its many members,” said Velera EVP, Chief Growth Officer Brian Scott. “Velera is pleased to expand our partnership, leveraging our industry-leading technology to help HawaiiUSA deliver a safe and secure experience for their members.”
