I'm always fascinating about the behind-the-scenes decisions and processes behind company rebrands. One very successful company in the credit union industry, LenderClose, recently announced its name change to Coviance.

To get the reasoning behind this move, we invited Coviance Founder/CEO Omar Jordan on the show. Omar shared with us what led them to make this name change decision, along with all that goes with a major rebrand. It's no easy task but well worth it as the company moves into its next phase of business.

Omar also discussed future plans for Coviance, the meaning behind the name, goals/outlook, etc.

In addition, he talked about what trends he is seeing in the housing market that credit unions need to be aware of heading into 2023.

World Council of Credit Unions’ Senior Vice President of Advocacy and General Counsel Andy Price stopped by the show to share a couple of timely items. The first one includes the World Council's annual Global Regulatory Update for 2023, which positions credit unions as a catalyst for rebuilding.

Andy discussed the ability of credit unions to weather financial shocks draws consumers to them during times of crises—something regulators must recognize and allow for to help the world recover from the current climate of economic uncertainty.

He adds that’s the theme of this year's update, which stresses how important it is for WOCCU and other credit union associations around the globe to articulate this dynamic to policymakers during what promises to be a difficult year ahead.

Andy talked about such items in the update as:

Sustainable Finance/Climate Change
Payments
AML/CFT
Cybersecurity/Digitization

Secondly, he talked about the World Council's 2023 GAC session "Why International Advocacy Matters: Ukraine Case Study." This session focuses on how International Standards affect regulations in the United States and how the international regulatory framework shapes U.S. regulations, the importance of proportionality, with a focus on events in Ukraine and the plight of credit unions.
