It would be a vast understatement to say the rapid-fire Finovate shows are a smashing success. Since we started interviewing Eric Mattson a few years ago, Finovate's CEO and virtual ringmaster, the shows have grown exponentially not only in attendance but in the number venues. Finovate has expanded to Europe and most recently Asia, adding a true international flavor to the crowd and presenters. It is now a highly anticipated and sought after ticket for just about any human being with a taste for financial technology. Presenters clamor to get a spot on stage for a mere seven minutes, while banks, credit unions, media, VCs, and vendors wait with bated breath to see who will wow the audience with their breakthrough presentation.
To get the inside scoop on this must-see event, Mr. Mattson is back to give the 411 on why this show resonates so well with presenters and attendees alike. He also provides a list of requirements that his Finovate crew looks for in potential presenters. If you're interested, listen up. Always a pleasure having Eric on the show giving us an inside look at the future of finance -- and Spring 2013 in San Francisco shouldn't disappoint. Visit: finovate.com Just in time for National Credit Youth Week, our very own The Disclosures have released their latest single "Thank My Piggy Bank" -- a song for kids about the virtues of saving. (Something a few of us adults may need a refresher course in as well.) So we invited The Disclosures' Chad Helminak and Christopher Morris on the show to not only find out more about the song but also experience a "live" performance from the dynamic duo. I also provided a cut of their accompanying video in the intro. Visit thedisclosuresmusic.comfor its entirety.
Since we last spoke a little over a year ago Chad and Chris have had some impressive tour dates playing a number of credit union shows. I'm still lobbying for them to play on the big stage at the GAC. It'll happen. Also, look for their full album of financial-related songs later this year -- just in time for the holidays! Always a blast having Chad and Chris on the show. And you might even find yourself quietly humming their new tune while you work, running on the treadmill, changing diapers, mowing the lawn, stuck in traffic, etc. (All of the above for me.). Go check it out! Visit: thedisclosuresmusic.com In part 2 of our interview with Bank 3.0 author Brett King, we discuss the importance and effectiveness of an online presence while addressing the different roles branches will play in the future -- moving from transactional to retail. We also talk about Siri-like voice recognition services; banking in the cloud; and companies like Apple, Amazon, Google, Starbucks, and PayPal encroaching on banking's turf. Is this a threat?
Again, our many thanks to Brett King for his generosity and time. Enjoy the show -- and don't forget to pick up Bank 3.0. either online or off. A good read that wil get you thinking about the future of your credit union's services. Visit: Check out Bank 3.0 banking4tomorrow.com www.moven.com |
