Like nearly every in-person event going virtual since last spring, NACUSO is following suit with its popular "Next Big Idea Competition" -- except there's a really cool twist. NACUSO's 2020 Next Big Idea Competition will, of course, be virtual, but it will become the "2020 NBI Playoffs."

Since college basketball fans missed out on the NCAA March Madness Tournament because of COVID-19, NACUSO is bringing us the next best thing with its NBI Playoffs. Ten fintech teams will compete in their respective brackets in a "Shark Tank" like format to crown a winner -- which wins $7,500 (courtesy of CO-OP Financial Services).

To get the details, we invited NBI moderator Messick Lauer & Smith Partner Guy Messick and NBI judge CO-OP Financial Services Chief Product Officer Bruce Dragt. The competition will take place on October 13 at 11:00 a.m. (PST) for Round 1 and October 27 at 11:00 a.m. (PST) for the Final Four.

So get your brackets (download below) all set for your virtual office pool and sit back for the "One Shining Moment" of this year's NACUSO NBI Playoffs. Check it out and let us know your thoughts -- and don't forget to watch.

#2268: How Cornerstone League Helped Baylor Healthcare System CU Staff Become Certified Financial Counselors...

We all know credit union leagues, networks, and associations step up their game for credit unions whether there's a crisis or not. In part two of our conversation with Baylor Healthcare System Credit Union CEO Andy Reed, Andy shares how Cornerstone Credit Union League stepped up for their credit union covering the expense for their employees to become Certified Financial Counselors.

As a result, Andy says that his employees are now better prepared to handle members who may be in financial trouble -- possibly preventing them from a crisis of their own. Ultimately, this help adds value to the credit union as a true financial resource for members, as delinquencies will start to percolate due to COVID relief running out. The timing of this certification couldn't be any better.

Check it out and let us know your thoughts. Very inspiring story, indeed.
