Callahan's Chairman Chip Filson closed out our coverage of the 2019 Underground Collision in Washington, D.C. -- just as the sun came out. Chip talked about his topic of choice at the event: cooperative literacy.

He expanded on it with a theme for the morning's proceedings: If we think of ourselves as a movement with a mission that involves members, then we have a great future. But if we think of ourselves regarding size, number of loans and members and having that define us in the future, then we'll just become the merged financial services of the future.

Here are a few more points with discussed with Chip:
  • understanding who we are and what we do
  • how GAFA may control the future -- so credit unions need to be current on today's tech
  • greatest barrier to cooperative literacy is the regulator

Great conversation with Chip -- as usual. Check it out and let us know your thoughts.

Retired credit union executive (State Employees Credit Union) and one who likes to "stir it up" a bit Jim Blaine stopped by from his duties at the 2019 Underground Collision for a chat on conversations credit unions need to be having but aren't. In particular, how to support the smaller credit unions within the industry to decrease the amount of consolidation right now.

Jim also talked about his retirement, turned the tables on me and became the interviewer, and much, much more. Don't miss this one. Enjoy!
