#127: CUES 2012 Next Top Credit Union Exec contest kicks off with Tim McAlpine and Devin Selte...

5/15/2012

If there's anything truly innovative marketing-wise occurring in the credit union industry, usually Currency Marketing's Tim McAlpine is behind it. That said, Tim's "American Idol-esque" Next Top Credit Union Executive contest kicks off this week searching for the industry's best and brightest Gen Y pros who are looking to be tomorrow's CU leaders. Along with a quick Next Top Credit Union Exec background, Tim informs us that the 2012 competition will have a few new wrinkles for the dedicated candidates.

Last year's winner, Servus Credit Union's Devin Selte, also joins us to chime in on his experiences during the 2011 campaign -- along with how his year has been wearing the Next Top Credit Union Exec crown. Lots of great info in this interview and motivation to nominate your candidate today. Check it out. (Bonus: See if you can spot Your Full Potential's Sean McDonald calling in for a cameo.)

#125: Inside Scoop on Digital Branding for CUs with Filene's George Hofheimer...

5/7/2012

It's good to have folks out there like Filene looking out for the well being of credit unions. Case in point: Filene recently held a gathering of Google and Facebook reps informing an audience of credit union social media enthusiasts and neophytes on the do's and don'ts of digital branding. From that presentation, Filene put together a video "prezi" summary for those who couldn't make it. We invited Filene's Chief Research + Innovation Officer, George Hofheimer, on the show to divulge some of the event's findings. What we received from George were plenty of practical takeaways that credit union folks riding the social media fence can use to help in their decision making. Great stuff from George. Check it out!

#124: 'Hispanic Opportunity Navigator' with Coopera's New CEO Miriam De Dios

5/4/2012

First of all, a huge congratulations goes out to Miriam De Dios for becoming Coopera Consulting's new CEO. I interviewed Miriam a few days before this big announcement, so we didn't get to discuss it during the show. Just missed it! Anywho, certainly a well-deserved appointment for Miriam -- and Coopera! Now on with our show...

It's no doubt the Hispanic community is vitally important to credit unions today and will be well into the future. So how can credit unions take advantage of this huge opportunity to attract Hispanics to their organizations? Well, luckily we have Coopera's Miriam De Dios, to provide us with all the right answers. So we invited her back on the show to give us the inside scoop on the steps credit unions can take in reaching out to Hispanics.

To help credit unions achieve this strategy, Miriam tells us about Coopera's new Hispanic Opportunity Navigator (HON), which guides credit unions in the all important process of properly marketing to Hispanics. She provides a few real-world examples of what credit unions can do in this area, as well. Lots of helpful, practical information from Miriam in this episode, so check it out!
