Zogo recently held a webinar roundtable with Gen Z college students entitled: "5 college students reveal things they hate about their banks." It was a very revealing, 60-minute dialog that covered a myriad of banking and financial literacy topics.
In this clip, Zogo's Lucas Mill moderated the roundtable, asking the panelists about the state of mobile banking today -- sharing likes and dislikes. Lucas took a deeper dive and inquired if financial institutions should go "all in" on mobile or if people were still inclined to visit a branch or should everything be on the mobile. Recreational vehicle (RV) and camping trailer sales have generally been a solid business over the years. But in 2020, this industry launched like a Saturn 5 rocket to the moon -- and shows no signs of slowing down in 2021. In fact, RV Industry Association is projecting that RV shipments will climb nearly 20% in 2021, eclipsing 500,000 units. This colossal increase obviously means good business for RV dealerships, but it also means there's ample opportunity for credit union lending.
Case in point: Alliant Credit Union recently announced that it traded $64.5 million of its recreational vehicle loans to its partner credit unions in 2020. The sales helped provide these other financial institutions the opportunity to gain access to a high-performing asset class while furthering Alliant’s lending capacity. The sales averaged $9 million per pool across seven transactions. Alliant's RV loan portfolio currently stands at approximately $1.3 billion with over $580 million originated in 2020 alone. To get an inside look at how this business model works and how Alliant has benefited -- as well as other credit unions, we invited Charles Krawitz, Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending and Loan Trading at Alliant Credit Union. We discussed how robust this business sector is right now, why this is happening, why more credit unions aren't doing this, and advice for others looking to participate in the RV loan marketplace. Yet another creative credit union success story. Check it out and let us know your thoughts. #2393: 'What's Going on in Banking' Webinar Panelists Discuss Importance of Data Analytics...1/27/2021
Cornerstone Advisors recently held its "What's Going on in Banking 2021" webinar with hosts Cornerstone Advisors President/Partner Steve Williams and Director of Research Ron Shevlin. Guests were Citizens Bank of Edmond President/CEO Jill Castilla and Redwood Credit Union President/CEO Brett Martinez.
In this clip, the group discusses the importance of data analytics for their respective shops and how each of them approach this area of operations to better serve their members/customers. And this topic stemmed from a poll conducted to the attendees during the webinar, asking: "What resources are most needed at your organization?" Data analytics won. And if you want to see the entire webinar reply, visit Cornerstone Advisors webinar page. This is 58 minutes well spent, as, among many other topics, Jill reveals what it was like to work with Shark Tank's Mark Cuban on PPP loans and Brett talks about how the many natural disasters (California forest fires) their credit union has experienced over the years actually prepared them for COVID-19 challenges. |
