#364: Inside Look at Regulation Relief and Executive Succession Planning with Dennis Dollar...

3/23/2015

In part 2 of our talk with Dollar Associate's Dennis Dollar, we discuss the seemingly never ending issue of regulation relief for credit unions -- especially the smaller CUs that are drowning in regulations to remain compliant. Dennis provides us with his take on what needs to be done to quell this mega-issue, allowing credit unions to do what they do best and serve their members without the massive compliancy thorn constantly sticking in their side.

We switch gears a bit to discuss today's growing concern regarding the industry's mass executive exodus and who will to fill their positions. A massive succession planning is on tap for credit unions and once again Dennis provides us with his experienced take on this rising problem.

And lastly, we wrap up with Mr. Dollar's 2015 forecast for credit unions. Tons of experienced insight in this chat, so don't miss out.

With CUNA's 2015 GAC still fresh in our minds and RBC2 being one of the hot topics being discussed, we thought it was high time to have Dollar Associates Principal Partner Dennis Dollar, also former NCUA Chairman, on the show. As usual, Dennis delivered providing his energetic, inside insight on such topics as RBC, regulation relief, executive succession planning, and plenty more.

In part one of this two-part series, we focus on RBC and NCUA's current handling of version RBC2. Again, Dennis' inside take on this topic was truly compelling and candid. We hope you enjoy it and let us know what you think. And stay tuned for part two next week.

#362: Apple Pay and Western Union: A Twist in Payments -- with Aite's Thad Peterson...

3/17/2015

Have there been enough Apple Pay stories in the last century? No, we say. So we're throwing another Apple log on the payments bonfire. This time there's a new twist with the headline grabbing payments technology throwing Western Union in the mix. To put all this tech in perspective, we invited Aite Group's Thad Peterson to provide a quick summary on what's happening here.

We also discussed how it works, its effect on banks and credit unions, who will use it, was this usage on Apple's radar, etc. A fascinating talk on an equally fascinating payments technology -- especially now that Samsung has jumped in the deep end, as well. Check it out and weigh on this topic.

#361: 4 C's that Threaten Small CUs -- CUNA's Mike Schenk explains...

3/16/2015

Fresh off the heels of last week's GAC, there was a lot of talk about smaller credit unions' existence. We've also been seeing more and more stories in the industry publications about the concerns for small credit unions not growing, being merged out, or going away altogether. It's an issue that has continued to rise and isn't going away. So we invited CUNA's Vice President of Economics & Statistics Mike Schenk on the program to provide us with his "4 C's" that threaten the existence of today's smaller credit unions.

But there is a silver lining to this initially worrisome topic and Mike provides us with his take on how to find a solution. Check it out and let us know what you think.
