GTE Financial President/CEO Brian Best was kind enough to come on the show and share his credit union's experience "weathering" Hurricane Irma, which bore the brunt of the mega-storm head on. Brian explained how his credit union prepared for the hurricane well in advance of its arrival in the Orlando area. He also described how they planned for such an event the year before -- and how those plans were instrumental in its success not only getting staff to safety but serving their members in a very difficult time, as well.

Suffice to say, best laid plans do, indeed, work when executed properly -- and that's what GTE Financial did so well. But Brian added what they learned from this event and what they can continue to do better for their credit union and its members. Unfortunately, this won't be the last hurricane to pass through Florida and wreak havoc on the state.

Check out this amazing story from Brian and let us know your thoughts.

Nearly all of us have seen the mass destruction Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused in the Caribbean the last few weeks. It's been nothing short of devastating.

This area of the world is very pro credit union and they have been hit hard, as well -- but are still doing everything they can to support their members and just about anybody else who needs help. The credit unions, however, need help, too.

That said, World Council of Credit Unions President/CEO Brian Branch and Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions Director Aaron Moses joined us to share their thoughts on the storms' aftermath, how to rebuild not only homes and businesses but the economies of each of these island nations, as well. And credit unions are right in the middle of it all.

Watch this episode and step up one more time for these folks who love their credit unions. Visit WOCCU's "Donate to Caribbean Relief Efforts" page today to get involved in this global effort.

Like just about any established organization on the planet, we all need a good clean up now and then to refresh, renew, and take pride in your workplace. Cabrillo Credit Union did just that. The credit union staff donned their cleaning gear and embarked on a top-to-bottom office space clean up that in the end has helped the save time, money, and even boosted morale.

So get to the bottom of this effort, we invited the instigators Cabrillo's Natasha Ataiiyan and Heather Mathis on the show to discover what exactly they did, what they discovered, and how the "cleanse" enhanced the credit union's daily operations. They also found out some surprising effects of this clean up that nobody expected.

Watch and find out -- and let us know your thoughts.

CSCU Director of Payments Lou Grilli joins us on the show to share why the recent Equifax is unlike any other data breach to date. It's quite stunning to realize the type of personal information that was compromised. Word to the wise: check your credit today for any discrepancies and get a monitoring app.

Lou also admits that his information was compromised in the breach and describes the steps he has taken to protect himself. That said, he provides valuable information on how credit unions and consumers can protect themselves in our new normal of constant data breaches. It isn't going away.

Check out this highly informative talk and let us know your thoughts. Also here's the blog post by Stephanie Hainje on CSCU's The Payments Review with more helpful information on the Equifax breach: THE EQUIFAX CYBER SECURITY ATTACK.
