The glass is always half full with THRIVE's Founder/CEO Anne Legg, as she joined us on the show to provide a quick reminder of credit unions' "awesomeness" during challenging times: earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, government shutdowns, financial crises (Great Recession), bombings, etc.

Anne says credit unions helping members stay in their houses and keep their cars not only has had a positive impact on the member but also on the economy. This potential economic situation can be another reminder to the members that credit unions have your back.

We also discussed her recent blog post, "Three actions credit unions can take to help their members navigate the economic challenges of the Coronavirus." Those three actions include:
  • Action 1: Identify potentially impacted member segments
  • Action 2: Analyze the findings
  • Action 3: Create financial solutions to their problems

And lastly we address how to turn our current "fear into fuel" that will motivate and inspire us all to act in amazing ways to help those around us during the difficult times.

That said, Anne is hosting a webinar on March 24 about turning Fear into Fuel. Here are the details to sign up:

Turn FEAR into Fuel
Probably now more than ever, members would benefit from the credit union Hug.

The credit union hug is the passion that credit union employees have for their members. They love to help them and in ways you wouldn’t expect from a financial institution.  And, in these uncertain times, members really need a hug. But how?  If only there was a framework that would help credit union talent create member-centered solutions in this chaos and deliver them quickly.

Luckily - There is.

Join this FREE Turning Fear into Fuel webinar and learn about a proven problem-solving framework that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of problem-solving. This framework has been proven to provide substantial economic and social benefits across the credit union supply chain.

This 45 min webinar will give you a new member-centric, problem-solving tool to gain clarity on what you can do today to improve the members' lives and remind them that the Credit Union has their back.

Register in advance for this meeting taking place March 24 at 8:00 a.m. (PST):

Red Canoe Credit Union  - Fill the canoe Community giving
In the middle of the Great Financial Crisis, Red Canoe Credit union identified the lack of basic school supplies  so they started stepped in and created "fill the canoe" a school supply drive. It has grown to be the credit union's  largest philanthropic event and has raised and matched over 100,000 lbs. of supplies since its inception.

The National Credit Union Foundation
This organization works to ignite understanding and focus on member financial health, inspire and create opportunities for credit unions to leverage their cooperative values and respond quickly when disaster strikes. Their CUAID program in 2018 distributed $815,000 to assist credit union people in need and help them get back on their feed.
