Ok, the headline is a bit confusing, but bear with us. CU Collaborate's Sam Brownell joined us on the show to explain what's going on here with community charters. According to Sam, he discovered a secret about credit union chartering that (almost) no one else knows.
He says federal SEG-based credit unions can serve larger communities than practically any other charter, including virtually any state charter. The largest credit unions could serve multiple entire states under a federal multiple common bond or SEG based charter. And it all has to do with underserved rural districts.
This should be enough to whet your appetite, as we go into great detail about Sam's discovery -- which create a whole new meaning for the community charter. Check it out and let us know your thoughts.
