Taylor Nelms, Senior Director of Research, Filene Research Institute, and Jason Werts, President & CEO, Advantis Credit Union, joined us on the show to discuss Filene's 2nd annual Credit Union DEI Practices & Policies survey (participation for credit unions closes May 31, 2022). 

Taylor quickly reviewed results and goals from last year's survey and share what Filene hopes to gain with this year's 2nd annual survey. What they learned from the first year of research about the state of DEI practices in the credit union industry and successful approaches to implementing DEI strategy.

Jason share the credit union perspective, participating and leveraging data from the first survey -- and this information is helping them essentially create a DEI template at their credit union others may be able to emulate, as well. Here's a rundown of Advantis' experience:

• How Advantis has jump-started and advanced its DEI journey
• The role Filene’s survey played in Advantis’ DEI strategy and investments (roadmap: DEI counsel, metrics, training, etc. Hired Dir. of DEI, Allies for Good, community mentor program, etc.)
• Outcomes and impacts of those investments so far (especially when it comes to talent and engagement)

Taylor added, for those organizations that complete the DEI survey, Filene is providing credit unions and industry organizations with an Employee Experience survey to capture the voice of employees and deepen insight into how organizational practices and policies are affecting work engagement, inclusion, innovation, and other factors relevant to talent attraction, retention, and development.
