NAFCU's Director of Political Affairs Dan O'Brien discusses why August is advocacy month for credit unions. Hint: Congress is in recess and all your representatives are back home holding town hall meetings. So go meet with them now.
Dan tells us how credit unions can develop an effective message for our time-strained officials to ensure they remember what we're all about, along with the major issues that impact us on a daily basis. But he also stresses that credit unions just wait until August to meet or contact their representative, they should be contacting them on a consistent basis throughout the year.
Dan also talks about NAFCU's upcoming Congressional Caucus early next month, which provides a prime opportunity to meet with more government officials to help CUs nationwide. Enjoy -- and get out there and deliver your message!
