Credit unions and vendors had a bit of a scare recently when Senator Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) attempted to add a "Vendor Authority" amendment to the Cyber Security Bill that was designed to authorize NCUA to examine every third party credit union vendor from CUSOs to check processors to the cleaning service at the branches. Needless to say, the industry experienced collective gasp when this occurred.
Fortunately, Senator Warren was informed of the ramifications this amendment would have on our industry and it was quickly rescinded. As a result, the industry experienced a collective sigh of relief when this occurred.
Being on the front lines of this chain of events, we invited NACUSO's President/CEO Jack Antonini on the show to get a behind-the-scenes look of what transpired with this "almost" amendment -- along with what could've happened if it passed. Enjoy!
