Giving back is always a great message for any company or organization. It shows they're not just in it for the profits; they actually want to make a difference. MasterCard is definitely one of those companies that does both quite well. But we already know the story behind MasterCard's business success, so let's explore the latter -- discovering greater possibilities through financial inclusion.
To get the inside scoop on MasterCard's financial inclusion, we invited the company's Vice Chair Walt Macnee on the program to introduce its Center for Inclusive Growth. Walt discusses how the Center's goal is to empower people through inclusive economies. To accomplish this goal, MasterCard seeks to fill a critical need – invest in innovative and practical programs and connect the experience and knowhow of four key stakeholders: the development community, governments, academia, and business.
As we were talking, I couldn't help but think how aligned this work is with credit union industry's mission of "people helping people." In fact, Walt mentioned how they have already worked extensively with the World Council of Credit Unions. Check it out and let us know what you're doing in 2015 to give back.
