In the fifth installment of our MasterCard Leadership Series, we are joined by MasterCard's Senior Vice President Carolyn Balfany on the latest status of EMV and how this security technology has affected credit unions, retailers, and consumers as 1.2 billion cards are scheduled to be replaced by year's end.
In this candid chat, we address the possibilities or fraudster threats of those financial institutions that are a bit complacent on this chip adoption and those that simply won't make the move. Also, for those that have, how are they educating consumers on the usage of their new cards at retailers. And speaking of retailers, what's being done about their readiness and sometimes reluctance. Lastly, we discuss how EMV is not the silver bullet but the first step in becoming more secure as the mag stripe's demise may be on the horizon soon.
One more thing, check out the retailer EMV success stories on MasterCard's EMV Makeover series.
