October 2016 marks the year anniversary of the EMV liability shift that changed our card-usage lives forever. Since then, many of us have experienced slower transactions times at the counter -- which was part of the reason very few EMV terminals were working during the holidays last year.
But MasterCard (M/Chip) and VISA (Quick Chip) both recognized this concern earl on and have made adjustments on their end with their respective M/Chip and Quick Chip applications. A nice fix, indeed, but more needs to be done -- and news from TMG issuing their dual interface chip cards could be that answer -- "tap and go" being a pretty cool part of this advancement.
TMG's Product Manager Chole Casber joined us to discuss this new technology and what it means for credit unions and their members, making the transaction process 63% faster. Now we're talkin'.
Chole shared with us how this technology works, when it's available, why surprisingly some credit unions don't want it, and where we go from here. Check it out and let us know your thoughts.
Chole is also a member of the U.S. Payments Forum workgroup to support EMV instant issuance.
